Hunger Prevention Programs

Caring CupboardAlong with the local Lions and Rotary Clubs, and the San Carlos Senior Center, we run and support the program to distribute healthy food weekly to Seniors in need.

Second Harvest Food Bank
Our club members and high school students in our Key Clubs, we frequently volunteer at the local food bank to prepare bags of food for families that might otherwise go hungry.

Holiday Food Drives
Along with personal donations, members help distribute and collect food donation buckets to collect food during the holiday season.

Special Games

If there is one program that makes every Kiwanian know why they joined, it’s volunteering in the yearly district wide “Special Games” event held at a local community college campus.  Sure to touch your heart, hundreds of students with special needs participate in athletic contests, complete with the regalia of an opening ceremony.

Educational Volunteering

We have a long running program, “Hug-a-book” which encourages program to encourage a love of reading. Members select books and read them to first grade students in local elementary schools.  Great fun.

Our members also participate in “Healthy Cities” tutoring students of all grade levels

Key Clubs

Boy and Girl Scouts

We sponsor Troop 301 (Boys) & Troop 4301 (Girls) in Belmont. An inclusive group, the troop promotes balancing school, family, and other extracurricular activities, while extending service to the community. Although they encourage and support rank advancement, the main emphasis remains the process: learning vital skills for life and how to lead others through positive and respectful guidance — along with having FUN.
